Most of the time, when you’re looking for a cake, you come across the same boring recipes. That won’t happen here! Not with our Nutter Butter Cake and Coca Cola Cake, and certainly not with this Cinnamon Roll Cake.
This cake is as unique as they come, but oh-so-delicious. You can enjoy this for breakfast or as a dessert with ice cream. You just cannot go wrong with it.

CINNAMON ROLL CAKE RECIPE
I have tried a lot of cake recipes in my time. I like creating new things, hence this beauty. If you love cinnamon rolls and are in the mood for a cake, then this is the cake for you. When you bite into this cake, you may experience cake heaven for the first time.
I’ve been making homemade cinnamon rolls for years, but this Cinnamon Roll Cake idea is awesome. Putting together this recipe is actually going to be WAY easier than you thought.
Who discovered cinnamon?
Before you make this recipe, you may have some questions, like who discovered cinnamon? Well, it’s been around for a very long time, since 2800 B.C. This delicious spice is also known as Cinnamomum zeylanicum. The name of it means fragrant spice plant. (source)

How to Make Cinnamon Roll Cake
Cakes are meant to be fun and I feel as though this cinnamon swirl makes this cake so much fun! I like to keep things as simple as possible when baking and this cinnamon swirl part of the cake is simple and yummy. If you have never made cinnamon swirl before, you’re going to love my recipe.
As you’ll see, there are three parts to this cake: cake batter, cinnamon swirl, and glaze. It takes a few bowls, but is totally worth it.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
- In another bowl, mix together the milk, sugar, eggs and vanilla.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredient and mix just until combined.
- Once mixed, slowly pour in the melted butter.
- Pour into a greased 9×13 pan.
- For the cinnamon swirl, mix all the ingredients together until well combined.
- Drop or pour (depending on how soft the butter is) evenly over the batter and swirl with a knife.
- Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes. Ours took about 35 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk and vanilla until smooth.
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm cake. It will soak in slightly and be AMAZING.
- Serve the cake warm. If you have leftovers, you can warm each slice in the microwave for just a few seconds.
How do you swirl a cake?
One of the most interesting parts of this cake is swirling it. You can easily swirl this cake after you add the cinnamon swirl. You can take a toot pick or a knife and go to town on swirling it. I like to make figure eights. As you can see, the final product is beautiful!
The cinnamon swirl will sink slightly into the cake making pockets (similar to our earthquake cakes). It makes the bottom of the cake gooey…just like a cinnamon roll!

Cinnamon Roll Glaze
Perhaps my favorite part of the cake is being able to make this glaze. Everyone knows that the best part of cinnamon rolls is the glaze. Who doesn’t lick their fingers after they’ve added the glaze to the cake? Using powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla, you will be able to make this glaze quickly.
Simply take a small bowl and whisk these ingredients together. Keep whisking until the glaze is smooth and easy enough to drizzle over the cake.
If you drizzle the glaze on when it is warm it will soak in slightly and be utterly delicious!

How to properly cut a cake
If you do want your kids to help you cut the cake or if you have never cut a cake before, there are some tips to keep in mind. You will want to start cutting the cake by cutting two slices down the middle. Cut from the inside out.
I cut this cake into about 15 pieces, which means it can feed quite a bit of people at one time.

Potluck Cake
This cake is great for taking to potlucks or carry ins. I know a lot of teachers and when they have a carry in, this is their go to dish. It can feed quite a bit of people, it’s rich in flavor, and it’s familiar, so people love it!
How do I store this cake?
If you do happen to have leftovers, you may be wondering how you can store this cake. This Cinnamon Roll Cake can be stored in an airtight container and left at room temperature for 2 days. You maybe get away with storing this cake in the fridge for 5-7 days!

How to Serve Cinnamon Roll Cake
The beauty of a delicious cake is that you can always enjoy a scoop of ice cream with it. If you thought apple pie was good with ice cream, wait until you try this deliciousness. I can’t even explain it to you, you just need to try it.
You could even make your own ice cream if you really wanted. I’m not sure how ambitious you are feeling about ice cream, but you never know!
